A Special Invitation:

PASSOVER SEDER 2000

Saturday, April 8 at 6:00 PM

You are cordially invited to attend the first annual Sojourner Ministries’ Christ in the Passover Seder meal. We will be celebrating our seder on Saturday evening, April 8, 2000 from 6:00-9:00 P.M. at Northwest Bible Church in Dallas. There is no charge for this dinner and program. It is one way our ministry can give something back to you who have already given so much to us. (Of course, if you happen to insist, there will be opportunity to make donations to defray the cost of the meal.) We do ask, however, that you call to make a reservation for your party. Please invite guests whom you feel would enjoy exploring the Jewish heart of Christianity with us.

Although there will be overlap with what Steven presents in person and on tape, this intimate evening will provide a chance to explore additional areas of our Lord’s Last Supper which Steven cannot usually cover.

If you have never before participated in a Passover seder, if you’ve only seen Steven’s tape or live demonstration, or if it has been some time since you’ve been to a seder, then this evening is especially for you. Come.

This will be an occasion to gather together for one evening, under one roof, many local friends of Sojourner Ministries. We will assemble to:

  • commemorate the ancient tradition of Passover just as Jesus and those closest to Him did long ago (but don’t worry – unlike the disciples, we will have tables and chairs!)
  • celebrate our redemption through Jesus’ death and resurrection
  • encourage one another as we share together in the unleavened bread and cup of redemption
  •  join our raised voices to sing traditional Passover melodies
  •  learn more about Sojourner Ministries
  •  and, of course, to explore the Jewish heart of Christianity.

We welcome this occasion to get better acquainted with our ministry friends.

 Experience the Extraordinary:

ISRAEL 2000

The Tour You Can't Afford ...To Miss

Join Steven Ger, Jewish believer and director of Sojourner Ministries, for this once in a lifetime trip. Together with our Israeli guide, Steven will teach, on location, the Biblical significance of every essential site in Israel. You will experience the Holy Land through a Jewish believer’s eyes! This is a tour for those who not only desire to explore the Jewish heart of their faith, but also want to explore the Jewish birthplace of their faith!

This ten day tour will be absolutely spectacular! This will be Steven’s 11th tour, and he has purposely limited this singular journey to only 20 passengers, so it is guaranteed to be an intimate group of pilgrims and students of the Word. Due to our size, there will be less rushing from one place to the next and more time to experience the Land and contemplate our faith.

Sail with us on the sea of Galilee, and contemplate Jesus calming the waters; learn with us during our Temple Mount lecture with an Israeli archaeologist; pray with us at the massive ancient stones of the Western Wall, in the Garden of Gethsemane and in the Upper Room; share communion together at the empty Garden tomb; weep as Jesus did as we view the panorama of Jerusalem from the Mount of Olives; traverse with us the stony road of the Via Dolorosa; sing with us in the shepherds’ fields of Bethlehem; follow the footsteps of our Lord and be baptized in the Jordan river; explore the tunnel beneath the Western Wall; experience the inside of an abandoned Syrian bunker on the Golan (while we still can!); float on the Dead Sea, just outside your hotel room; and share other experiences too many to list.

The total cost for June 7-16, 2000 is a reasonable $2495 from Dallas, including all tips and taxes, based on double occupancy. We will be staying in elegant hotels in the heart of Jerusalem and on the shores of the Dead Sea. We will also have the privilege of staying in two of Israel’s finest kibbutzim, one at the headwaters of the Jordan river, the other on the Mediterranean coast.

This is the tour you have been waiting all your life to take. Begin the new century and millennium by retracing the footsteps of David, Solomon, Peter and Jesus!

New Tapes Focus on Messianic Holidays

Three New Exploring the Jewish Heart Series Tapes Released; Three More Coming

We are proud to introduce our new product, the six tape Exploring the Jewish Heart cassette series. This series continues the tradition established with our flagship products, The Unleavened Messiah video and audio tapes. They demonstrate how each Jewish holiday is a “shadow of things to come” and contains Jesus within its very essence (Col. 2:16-17).

Profoundly educational yet often rich with humor, Steven bridges the cultural and historical gap  between contemporary Christian faith and Biblical Judaism. Each tape in the series focuses on one of the major Biblical holidays, examining each holiday in its original Biblical context. Relevant Old  and New Testament passages are studied, as is often the intertestamental period. The tapes then proceed from the study of each holiday’s Biblical observance to its observance throughout post-Biblical Jewish history and the present era, paying careful attention to the development of particular holiday rites and customs.

With colorful precision, Steven dynamically illustrates how Jesus and the disciples would have observed each Jewish holiday in its first century context. Finally, Steven concentrates on the moving messianic fulfillment of each Jewish holiday and meticulously explains how Jesus, in His person and in His ministry, is the ultimate, prophetic fulfillment of the Biblical Holy Days.

This series was designed so that Christians will find their connection to their Jewish roots deepened and their faith greatly enriched and that Jewish people will be challenged to consider the Messianic claims of Yeshua Ha Meshiach, Jesus Christ.

 Dallas Seminary Publishes Hanukkah Article

We are proud to announce that Steven’s article, The Undying Flame: A Portrait of Christ in Hanukkah, was recently published in the winter edition of Kindred Spirit magazine, Dallas Theological Seminary’s quarterly periodical. The article covers the same ground as our Hanukkah  tape (see back page) andexamines the relationship between the winter holiday’s symbols and Jesus and demonstrates how He is the prophetic fulfillment of this festival.

Verse of The Day

“Come, let us sing for joy to the LORD; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song.” (Psalm 95:1-2)
